Ott Tänak empieza los preparativos para México en España

Ott Tänak no ha desperdiciado ni un solo día, pues en menos de 24 horas ha pasado de ganar el Rallye de Suecia a dedicarse a los test previos al Rallye de México, próxima prueba del Campeonato Mundial de Rallyes. Para ello, el piloto estonio de Toyota Gazoo Racing se ha desplazado hasta España, rodando en configuración de tierra con su Toyota Yaris WRC.

Tänak llega como líder del mundial por primera vez tras su victoria en Suecia (más puntos del Power Stage) y el tercer puesto en Monte-Carlo. Para México resulta un inconveniente dado que le tocará abrir pista en la primera etapa, lidiando con un terreno sucio y árido que se irá limpiando a medida que sus rivales vayan pasando, por lo que quien salga después tendrá una ventaja considerable ya que disfrutará de un mayor nivel de agarre.

De cara a la prueba mexicana es habitual que cada año por estas fechas los pilotos y equipos del WRC prueben en tierras españolas dado que en diversas partes de nuestra geografía, tanto en el norte como en el sur, existen terrenos similares. También hay que tener en cuenta que los equipos mundiales, tanto oficiales como privados, están limitados a hacer test en Europa para ahorrar costes. Antes esta normativa no se extendía a los privados: por ejemplo Mads Ostberg llegó a hacer test con su Ford Fiesta WRC particular en 2017 por lo que podía igualar su condición con respecto a sus rivales con respaldo oficial.
